In this post, we look at How to Use SUM Function in Google Sheets. Previously we looked at How to use REPT function in Google Sheets. I have been covering variety of functions so far with the Google Sheets. And hopefully some of the important functions get covered in the process.
Now for this tutorial, I wish to show you how to make use of the SUM function to do variety of the calculation specific to the multiple rows. And that would be helpful for doing variety of those calculations for your tally of the things to be done mathematically.
Let's take a look at one of the tutorial where you can learn how to use SUM function in Google Sheets.
Let's create a spreadsheet with the Google Sheets. That's the first part.
Now let's have some sample data that you can use to work with variety of functions like these. So let's say from a2 to a12 you have some data. Don't be bound to your data for these rows and the columns but you choose what to do in this case.
Now I want to do the sum in the A13. So here the formula would look like this.
= SUM(A1:A12)
You can also add the multiple ranges into the SUM function. Like say you have it for two multiple column ranges.
=SUM(A1:A12, B1:B12)
As you can see the 13th cell would be giving you the sum for each of them. And you would be able to get the sum of the ranges there. And that would make it easier for you to work with the range of the data there.
This is just an example. You can try this with the live example. You should check out the above video and I am sure you would be able to get the content done properly for your range. I am sure there are other means to use UI to do this but using the formula just makes things easier as well.
There are more than 13 other functions that I wish to cover from this point onward. Some of the really good changes comes when you learn to use those formulas kind of like in cascade fashion and also it would be possible.
I am making some good tutorials and posting them on YouTube like the one above. If you happen to like my content, please do share, subscribe and also pass it on telegram, Whatsapp and other places. I would love to see it helps my numbers and I appreciate your help in that journey.
I'll add more spreadsheet tutorial by the next week Friday. :)
