When I was a kid, I witnessed first hand the destruction that gambling had on the youths of the society. I saw individuals I knew put up thousands of naira, money that could have been used to maybe buy a book like rich dad, poor dad or even learn a skill, being thrown away in form of gambling and betting.
It didn't take long for me to know the secret. Gambling is based on hope, hope that you'll win and be self sufficient, hope that the outcome will be good, hope that your skills in prediction would pay off.
But that hope never ever gets realized. For any one winner in a gambling house, there are literally thousands of losers.
So when I saw gambling dapps appear I knew they were nothing but bad news.
One thing pisses me off, and that's the fact that people willingly gave magic dice over 500k steem but if a dude were to promote his post with 200 steem, he/she would be totally descended on by downvotes from the whales and high stakers.
With the highly pompous and skewed people running here as whales/lords/witnesses, it's no wonder people like hitmeasap, donkeypong, liberiost and a host of others are starting to power down.
As far as I was concerned, they(gambling dapps) held no value and would simply seize to function once they had collected enough money.
Betdice and now magicdice, both gone downhill, one silently and the other as an exit scam.
I did dabble into magic dice once upon a time, but it was more for the sake of curiosity than actual to win anything.
Since this is online, it is even worse than a standard gambling station where you can feel the dice, throw in a particular way and even chip a part to put more odds in your favour.
This is a program that could be programmed to seem random but when enough winnings have been gotten by you, be programmed to total take it all away
Even in a system that can s described as truly fair, the odds are still sealed against you since the house has a slight advantage/edge and wether you win or lose, they make money.
It's sad that we saw a rise in gambling dapps in steem, despite the obvious fact that they were of no good.
