A friend of mine, who is an art historian by profession, worked on the restoration of a saint icon that is several centuries old and was saved from the fire. She asked me to take some photos.
She previously cleaned and restored one side, the left one in the photo. In addition to the damage from the fire, the icon was also damaged by insects.
The details on the saint's clothes on the restored side are much more visible.
Likewise, these two circles are the same red color, only one has been cleaned and the other has not yet.
I have always been interested in the restoration process, and I admired the patience with which the almost invisible layer-by-layer art piece returns to its original state.
