You need a macro lens if you want to get close to the subject. 35mm f/2.8 Macro is not the best, but my goal is not to just magnify something. I am more interested in a macro-abstract combination, as in the first photo.
For macro, you can photograph anything that you think will work.
Plants and flowers are everyday objects. Or, it can be a photo of a simple sheet of music in a drop of oil on water.
Or piano keys :)
