Over the years I have been involved in many theatre productions. I intend to list a few of them here in this post. I recall my first production was Tom Sawyer and I was cast as the lead role. I don't really remember too much about it but I remember that it was a success! Everyone enjoyed it. When I was in middle school I continued to do dramatic theatre class and I let my imagination go wild.
Over the years I have been involved in many theatre productions. I intend to list a few of them here in this post. I recall my first production was Tom Sawyer and I was cast as the lead role. I don't really remember too much about it but I remember that it was a success! Everyone enjoyed it. When I was in middle school I continued to do dramatic theatre class and I let my imagination go wild.
Improvisation allowed me to brainstorm and play pretend with other young actors as we create funny and interesting situation comedy. Learning how to block or how to go along with the situation, and all the complicated yet silly things that make it work.
When I was in middle school we also created a play to teach children about the dangers of smoking. This production was toured to schools around my province and versions of this production still exist today although new kids are given a chance to rewrite the old stories we created.
The secret garden is a famous story and I was involved in the production of that when I was about 10. Although I wasn't a main character I had many small rolls playing extras in different scenes including a dead guy. In that scene I threw myself on stage as a dead body and was dragged off afterwards. I have been murdered and it was a mystery!
In high school I did drama and began doing all the productions at the school I could. I also explored multi media and video and took every extracurricular opportunity to do drama. When I was in grade 10 I took two classes back to back so that I could skip a grade and join an excellent class of actors I had worked with since middle school.
No in the advanced drama class I continue to take every opportunity for productions. I designed a sound for my friends play, I had my friend do lighting for my play, and I acted in his play.
I still wish that I had a video recording of those incredible productions, doggy dog, silenct snow secret snow, kaleidoscope, and so many more. In my final year of high school I took a lot of multi media and video courses to finalize projects I was focussing on. I was also inventing my design for Darkflame Studios. I decided that I wanted to set out and build a new kind of theater. A place for the preservation of the arts and technology.
I attended my local college theatre arts Centre and took two intensive years of technical theatre production. I had intended to take motion picture arts but instead I decided to focus on YouTube and work. I found a job for a local cultural organization that was restoring a building and I had the great opportunity to help set up at theatre space and operated as both technical director and the facility manager for the studio space is upstairs.
During my time there I spent a significant amount of time working on the building setting up cleaning all those aspects of it but then when it was completely begin putting on productions. I like to facilitate emerging artists and new talent and create opportunities for others. I have put on an all ages concert season bringing bands from across Canada. I also facilitated during artists who rented the space.
I'm posting about all this because I am working on a new space now and I'm looking forward to setting up a new production season. It will be streamed so stay tuned for more!!
