We have been playing around with some pretty funky stuff today. Taking a shortened version of our company name, Weston Baker Creative Group, we explored how to generate a three dimensional shape from the form of the letters. We started by typing out the letters WBCG in rhino, a 3d modeling program. Then we set a camera within the program in an intense perspective.
The letters are extruded along different curves and connected to an object on the “ground”. This results in an undulating form that has ripples and curves throughout. To make the form even more interesting we took an old art piece of a building, that was also generated by creating graphics from a 3d model, and mapped the image to the shape of the new form. It creates some interesting visual effects on the surface.
It’s pretty fun to explore different graphic styles and approaches to design in general. Sometimes it’s hekpful to break from the normal work we’re used to in order to try something different.
There is some pretty funky stuff you can do with this type of three dimensional modeling and image mapping. We’re starting to explore animations as well, which is even more exciting. We’re currently working on two video projects, so if anyone has recommendations on the best ways to animate 3d models please let me know. I hope you enjoyed this little creative exploration project.
Ciao for now, Steemians.
