Hola amigos de Hive, espero que se encuentren bien, el día de hoy quiero aportar mi experiencia probando un remedio casero para combatir las plagas que azotan mi jardín, he probado diferentes remedios de este tipo para diferentes plagas pero hoy les hablaré de uno en específico el cual a parecía ser efectivo contra las hormigas, sin más nada que añadir, comencemos.
Hello friends of Hive, I hope you are well, today I want to share my experience trying a home remedy to combat the pests that plague my garden, I have tried different remedies of this type for different pests but today I will talk about one in particular which appeared to be effective against ants, without further ado, let's begin.
Una de las cosas que más disfruto en la vida es la jardinería, por ende, mi jardín es mi espacio favorito de la casa porque es al que más le dedico tiempo para poder mantenerlo en orden y de esta forma ayudar a darle un mejor aspecto a mi casa en su exterior gracias a las plantas que hay en la parte de afuera, sin embargo, no es una tarea muy fácil mantener el jardín libre de plagas, sobretodo cuando se tienen plantas como tomates o ajíes ya que suelo sembrar mucho de este tipo .
One of the things that I enjoy the most in life is gardening, therefore, my garden is my favorite space in the house because it is where I dedicate the most time to keep it in order and thus help to give a better appearance to my house on the outside thanks to the plants that are on the outside, however, it is not a very easy task to keep the garden free of pests, especially when you have plants such as tomatoes or chili peppers since I usually plant a lot of this type .
El año pasado tuve una gran infestación de hormigas, no podía quedarme mucho tiempo en el patio porque se me subían y me picaban además de estar atacando de manera muy agresiva a todas mis plantas, algunas incluso llegaban hasta dentro de la casa invadiendo mi cocina, intenté remediar la situación vertiendo agua hirviendo directamente en los hormigueros pero lamentablemente no funcionó, ahí fue cuando decidí buscar en internet alguna solución para acabar con esa plaga y después de revisar muchos sitios web decidí probar la principal opción que conseguí.
Last year I had a large infestation of ants, I couldn't stay long in the patio because they would climb up and bite me, as well as attacking all my plants very aggressively, some even came into the house, invading my kitchen. i tried to remedy the situation by pouring boiling water directly into the anthills but unfortunately it didn't work, that's when i decided to search the internet for some solution to get rid of this pest and after checking many websites i decided to try the main option i found.
Se trata de una especie de infusión que se prepara a base de ajo, básicamente es colocar a hervir varios dientes de ajo en agua y esa mezcla utilizarla para regar las plantas y verterla en los hormigueros así como en los caminos que hacen, todo esto después de que el agua estuviera a temperatura ambiente. De acuerdo con lo que leí en los sitios web las hormigas no soportan el ajo ya que su esencia es muy fuerte para ellas, por lo que no la toleran, así que la infusión a base de ajo tenía sentido para mí y parecía ser una solución efectiva para combatir a las hormigas.
It is a kind of infusion that is prepared with garlic, basically it is to boil several cloves of garlic in water and use this mixture to water the plants and pour it in the anthills as well as in the paths they make, all this after that the water was at room temperature. According to what I read on the websites ants can't stand garlic as its scent is too strong for them so they can't tolerate it so the garlic infusion made sense to me and seemed like a solution. Effective in fighting ants.
Intenté variar el proceso de elaboración de la mezcla usándola a veces con el agua hirviendo, otras con el agua templada, machaqué los ajos, los licué, use cabezas de ajo con todo y sus conchas e incluso llegué a dejar reposando la infusión con la finalidad de que el agua quedara bien impregnada con la esencia del ajo y así fuera más potente pero lamentablemente nada de esto funcionó. Después de varios días utilizando esta mezcla de ajo y agua no noté ninguna mejoría en mi problema con las hormigas así que opté de dejar de aplicarlo sobre todo en las plantas ya que seguían iguales de infestadas de hormigas y sentí miedo que el uso de esta mezcla le hiciera daño a mis plantas a largo plazo.
I tried to vary the preparation process of the mixture, sometimes using it with boiling water, other times with warm water, I crushed the garlic, blended it, used garlic heads with everything and their shells, and I even left the infusion resting in order to that the water would be well impregnated with the essence of garlic and thus be more powerful, but unfortunately none of this worked. After several days using this mixture of garlic and water I did not notice any improvement in my problem with ants so I decided to stop applying it especially on the plants since they were still infested with ants and I was afraid that the use of this mixture it would hurt my plants in the long run.
Después de todos esos intentos fallidos por combatir a las hormigas con remedios caseros opté por comprar un insecticida comercial el cual era un polvo que se tenía que esparcir en los hormigueros, dicho insecticida fue bastante efectivo que actuó de manera inmediata, ya que tan solo bastó una única aplicación para desaparecer a las hormigas por completo, además el insecticida fue bastante económico. No suelo utilizar plaguicidas comerciales porque me gustan los remedios orgánicos, sobre todo si son para utilizarlos en las plantas pero no vi otra solución posible para librarme de este problema.
After all those failed attempts to fight the ants with home remedies, I chose to buy a commercial insecticide which was a powder that had to be spread in the anthills. Said insecticide was quite effective and acted immediately, since all it took was a single application to completely eliminate the ants, plus the insecticide was quite cheap. I don't usually use commercial pesticides because I like organic remedies, especially if they are for use on plants, but I didn't see any other possible solution to get rid of this problem.
Por mi parte he podido comprobar que el uso del ajo para combatir a las hormigas es un mito, o al menos a mí no me funcionó como lo aseguraban en internet, el insecticida comercial fue tan efectivo que hasta el día de hoy sigue sin haber rastro de las hormigas en mi jardín y por lo tanto mis plantas han podido crecer libres de esta plaga que tanto daño les hacía.
For my part I have been able to verify that the use of garlic to fight ants is a myth, or at least it did not work for me as they claimed on the internet, the commercial insecticide was so effective that to this day there is still no trace of the ants in my garden and therefore my plants have been able to grow free of this plague that was doing them so much damage.
