@derangedvisionsLast week, I made a post about shopping with crypto and I said that I bought a new Canon 600EX II-RT Speedlite. Well, it was delivered yesterday and I was super excited to put it to use for some macro photography.
One thing I like about this is that it is fully compatible with my camera. The other speedlites that I had were cheaper ones that did not work too great and the flashes were not consistent from one shot to another. That is not the case with this new flash at all. I just put it on my camera and began shooting. I didn't have to mess with any settings or anything. I just set my aperture and the flash adjusts its settings to properly expose each shot.
@derangedvisionsIt is going to be nice to be able to take pictures of these little bugs and have the whole bug sharp. Earlier when I was doing macro shots of bugs, I would have to shoot with a wider aperture so I could let in as much light as possible. Now I can stop down and keep the whole bug in focus.
@derangedvisionsOne thing I did notice is that flash compensation was dependent on a lot of different factors, one of them being ambient light in the background away from the subject. That is why the above shot was a bit overexposed on the bug itself. I am going to have to continue to mess with this thing and watch some videos on it so I can learn a lot more about this speedlite. Hopefully I can have some pretty cool and creative shots in the near future.
