Love the colors

As we approach the end of October, I figured that all of my wildflowers would have already died, but they are still going pretty strong and usually have a bunch of bees and other bugs crawling on them each day.

I'm not a fan of these yellowjackets though. These things are assholes. A couple days ago, while I was on a walk, I stepped on one and it stung me right in the middle of my foot. It felt like I had stepped on a piece of glass and then it felt like I was having a hot poker stabbed into my foot over and over. It took about 24 hours for all of the pain to stop. So while I was taking these pictures, I had to be extra careful not to step on another one of these pests.

I really liked that I could see the flower petals all folded up inside of this bud. I think it is going to be opened up by tomorrow morning.

This one is already starting to unfold the petals. It is cool to see new flowers so late in the season.

These flowers are pretty cool before they open up. Each of the flower petals is rolled up like tiny tacos.

It is fun seeing so many colors in my wildflower garden. It will be cool to see how many of these flowers come back next spring. My wife and I have been taking the dread heads of the flowers and breaking them up in the yard to spread the seed, so hopefully my wildflower garden is even bigger next year.

Thanks for stopping by my post and checking out my pictures. You are awesome.
