One thing I have noticed over the past few years here is that the bee population seems to be going down. So this year, we have decided to let the weeds in our yard grow a little so that there are flowers for them to fly around to.
We are hoping to get some packs of wildflower seeds and plant them in the early spring of next year. It will be cool to have a whole front yard full of wild flowers. I don't care about having a nice grassy front yard right now because our area doesn't get the rain for it. I wonder what my neighbors will think about us having a yard of flowers next to their green lawns. I've let our front yard pretty much die this year because I am not watering it.
Hopefully we are able to make a sanctuary for bees and butterflies with all of the flowers and natural plants that will be growing in our yard next year. Bees are so important, so make sure that you do your part to help keep them going strong.
