There is nothing quite like ending the New Year being sick. Our family has struggled this past year with trying to remain healthy. We were sick over Christmas and yesterday, my wife tested positive with Covid for the third time since the pandemic. Not the ideal way we had planned to ring in the New Year, but what can you do? We have just learned to roll with the punches and just be glad we are still alive and kicking.
The whole year hasn't sucked too bad though. We do have a lot to be grateful for. Early this year, I was able to retire so that I can be home with the kids and make sure our daughter is taken care of. Luckily I have a decent retirement from the military that allowed me to be able to be home. I could not begin to think how much this past year would have sucked if I was not able to be home and take care of our daughter throughout the year.
We are still waiting on the results from her Covid test to be 100% sure, but she has been sick the past two weeks as well. Hopefully this time around, her Covid symptoms aren't too bad, because last time it got pretty scary and we almost lost her. She was one of the first cases of Mis-C here in the state. If you aren't familiar with Mis-C, it is called Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children and is a long lasting effect that some kids have from Covid. It causes vital organs to become inflamed and they can eventually begin to shut down.
We had some fun plans for the New Year, but we are all just resting instead. I got some black lights installed in our basement and we had planned on having a black light paint party, but since we are quarantined now, we weren't able to get the supplies for it. At least it snowed last night so our dogs are able to be outside and enjoy themselves out there.
Titus is in heaven out there with all the snow. We have some more snow that we will be getting later tonight and then some more next week. I am hoping that this snow will help to replenish the lakes that have been way below their normal levels.
Yoshi is continuing to grow and do awesome each day. He has been eating crickets like crazy that I have been thinking of starting a cricket farm. Amazon has all I would need to raise our own crickets, so I think that may be something we will look at doing because it would sure beat going to get crickets every three days.
As we move into 2022, hopefully it treats us all better than 2021 did. Stay safe if you have plans on going out tonight and make sure you have a designated driver. My family will be spending the next few days indoors and hopefully we all can get over being sick soon and get a good start to 2022.
