SONGS & LYRICS
Song: SELF PROCLAIMED 4
Artist: Dax
Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap
Release Date: 2021
I’ve beaten poverty went to war and beat mediocrity my life is mine I’m molding that (beep) like I’m doing pottery
I’m not scared of failure I embrace it and chase it
If there’s a 1 percent chance I can do it I take it
I took the hate they all threw sat down and I ate
Then took the motivation from it turnt to one of the greatest
Before this song, I did not even know that this guy was a Nigerian. Daniel Nwosu famously known as Dax Is a Nigerian from the Eastern part.
I know most people don't dig hip-hop or rap but, this song did exactly what he hoped it would do to me; it touched my soul.
In a particular line he quoted, "the pain is pre-requisite" and I do know that sometimes things happen and spiral out of control but I needed this.
This song spoke to me on my way back from work today because like he said, I'm working my way from the basement. The tears nearly spilled at how accurate this guy was.
Song: CLOUDS
Artist: NF
Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap
Release Date: 2021
I always advance, say how I feel, you know where I stand
Raisin' the bar, I gotta expand
Top of the charts, I'm setting up camp
Pound in my stakes, I put up my tent
Shoot for the stars, they fall in my hand
Stick to my guns, I don't even flinch
Can push all you want, ain't movin' an inch
NF is my favorite artist of Rap– of all time. Every one of his songs deals with what goes on in real life (not just his life) and he brings this to us in an unlikely fashion. A very different type of weird which I happen to like a lot.
On Sunday, We found out my Grandma had stage four cancer. I can't even begin to explain the gloom this news came with. In a nutshell, it was depressing.
Unlike what was expected of me to sulk, I surprised my self by getting out and listening to this song with a smile on my face. When I got home from my walk, I started dancing to it. Why? I have no idea. I, myself, was surprised by this immediate response to such an awful news. Whatever it is, I wasn't depressed.
Song: THE SEARCH
Artist: NF
Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap
Release Date: 2019
The point I'm makin' is the mind is a powerful place
And what you feed it can affect you in a powerful way
This song follows immediately after because it reminds me to always feed on positivity. The mind is an open field and anything can be sown if careless. As such, there should be walls of steel around it, not just letting life happen to our mentality.
These are my favorite tunes for today and by all means, feel free to listen to them and tell me what you think.
See you soon and...
