I'm beat! That's for sure. Today has been the most exhausting day ever. For weeks, I've been trying to get my PVC to no avail but thanks to my friend, I was directed to the headquarters to get started.
I left my house at about 9am. The whole plan was to get to work after the whole shindig. Oh! I overestimated the capacity of the Nigerian system and underestimated the interest of wounded citizens.
I got there and guess what? There was a queue that could make a bridge to Miami. I was aghast! How the heck do I wait this one? I got back to my friend letting her know what's happening and she asked me to be patient. Apparently, I was in the INEC's (Independent Electoral Commission) headquarters– she said(I think I've mentioned this part upstairs). The catch is that they were fast.
I was there for almost one hour before I finally got a lead number. Yep. They gave us number from the gate to identify those who could go in and those who could not. My number was #293!
I let instinct kick in and Deraa did the talking. Confused? Yep. I have two personalities. That's a story for another day. Deraa managed to get an official to promise her that she'd get her PVC registration done. Before I left his station he looked me in the eye and said, "There's just something about you. You have a fire that seems to draw people in." I laughed it off and thanked him.
Finally, I got the second number– after another one or more hour(s)– that ushered me into the main office to get the main thing started. I was number #203! What's it with the number 3 by the way? 🤨
When we moved to the waiting area, it got hard to find a place to sit. So I had to stand. We all had to stand. I wasn't too bothered though. I had a very good friend on Hive keep me company and it was...nice.
We waited and waited until it was finally my turn and I got in. Thing is, like I said, I have two personalities. And Deraa's the one y'all are familiar with. I was at the back of the queue but for some reason, they all wanted to attend to me first. To the point that people began to stare wondering who I was. I knew it was the Grace and Favour of God because... heck! I've been standing for over two– getting to three– hours!
I finally got registered and would go get my PVC soon. My only happiness is that I managed to get this task out of the way. Like I told my partners Esther and B0s on Discord, "The things I do for my country."
When I left that place, I didn't even think to go back to work. My head was banging and my stomach growled because I hadn't had much to eat. When I got home, I just plopped to the ground. Yep. I didn't make it to the bed. I woke up on the ground, reached for my phone, and wrote about my day. I'll soon get dinner...
Did y'all see the spike in HBD? I was tempted to sell but decided against it. My instincts kicked heavily against it.
Have you gotten your PVC?
