How much did a Bitcoin cost back then?

Bitcoin did not have an actual value at that time. The first real transaction was the purchase of two pizzas from Laszlo Hanyecz for 10,000 Bitcoin. These would be worth $500 million today.

How many Bitcoin are there?

There are currently 19,625,675 Bitcoins (as of December 13, 2024, 10:44 a.m.). The maximum number is limited to 21 million (exactly 20,999,999.97690000). This means that 93.46 percent of all Bitcoins have already been produced.

How many actually still exist?

All previously mined Bitcoins continue to exist on the blockchain. The question is how many of them can still be accessed by people and how many have lost their access keys forever. We don't know exactly. It is estimated that up to 30 percent of all Bitcoins, or approximately 6 million Bitcoins, are stashed in wallets that no one has access to.
