You’re probably thinking “This person must be joking writing a “Helpful Tips For Getting Started on Hive” article”. He’s a damn newbie and in no position to be making a post like this. Maybe you’re right, maybe you’re not. Read on and let's see what this newbie has to say.
The title of my post already suggests that I’m not writing a guide for other people. It can be a guide for you if you also believe in and agree with what I'm saying, but what I’m doing is simply telling myself out loud the things I know I need to be doing that’ll help give me a better future on Hive.
So this is really just Me guiding Me. I’ll still write in third person though because you’ll get confused reading this if I write in first person. If you read this and agree with my tips, we can both be guided by it then! Lol.
I’ll be looking at some things Hive oldies that have been around since the Steem days have told me about in order to have a good time on Hive and build relationships and be successful. Of course I’ll be telling you my opinion about things too based on interactions I’ve had with Hivers I’d like to consider successful. But like I said, my opinion, that you’re at liberty of throwing to trash if you’d like. But if you did, I think you’d be missing out on some great tips. How do get started then?
Learn About Hive and The Communities You Post In
I learnt this from 
ALL COMMUNITIES on Hive frown on plagiarism and abuse, but different communities also have specific rules that you can read about in their about.
Engage With The Community
You want people to upvote, comment and share your posts right? Well guess what, they want you to do same. As you post your own articles, make time to engage on other people’s posts too. They expect from you what you expect from them. Since I’m assuming that whoever is reading this post is probably a newbie, I should tell you that keeping engagement going might be a little difficult for you due to limited HP and resource credits. If you can afford it, buy up Hive and Power Up. You’ll thank you later.
Be Interesting
You’ve made so many scenarios about what I’m going to say here already in your head by just reading these two words. I wonder if any of what I really have to say will collide with anything you thought.
You see what I did there, instead of telling you directly what I was supposed to, I played around about it to get you a little bit more attentive.
This is how you need to be to grasp people’s minds and pull their attention. Everyone is here to read something interesting. You don’t have to be interesting by making jokes or trying to impress people. Learn how to be interesting in your own way. You can be interesting by providing detailed information about crypto charts. This will draw attention to you in crypto-focused communities.
Work On Your Craft And On Perfecting Your Style
Do I need to explain this? No matter how nice you write, there’s always room for improvement and that’s precisely what you should be doing: improving. Work on how you write, and how you use markdowns to beautify your posts. A quality post goes beyond just the ideas presented in it.
It entails how the ideas are presented, the wording and formatting of your text to the quality of pictures used in the post. Maybe you don’t have to be a professional photographer, but you need to at least make sure readers don’t have a hard time telling what is what in your pictures due to poor image quality. A lot of things go into creating quality and captivating posts, and a good cover image or thumbnail will go a long way toward grabbing readers’ attention.
Be Consistent
Everything I told you until this point doesn't mean jack shit if you’re not consistent and won’t stick around long term. You might as well pack shop and set up somewhere else now if you won’t be consistent. Consistency might be hard at the beginning, but once you make friends and enjoy what you’re doing, you won’t see the difficulty of being consistent. Just starting out, you’re going to have a few or maybe even a lot of your posts payout with no or little rewards. This shouldn’t discourage you. You need to understand that you’re new and that it took those users earning big numbers on their posts, a long time too to build their following and master their art through consistency. If they had stopped when things were not looking great in the early days, they probably never would’ve gotten where they are now.
Set Goals- Let Hivebuzz Be Your Bestfriend
For even a business to be successful, you need to have a plan of action. What do you want to achieve? What do you need to do to achieve it? This is basically about having a plan and working to bring it alive. Your plans don’t have to be huge things. Take baby steps, male short achievable goals, and increase your standards once you meet the goal. Another mistake newbies make is making long-term goals and because these take a long time of hard work and consistency to achieve, they get frustrated and discouraged when they don’t achieve their targets in the short term. You can set goals like:
- Increasing your HP by 100HP every month
- Engagement goals like leaving a certain amount of comments(meaningful ones, not spam comments)
- Hitting a certain reputation
You can even set social targets like making X number of friends or followers weekly(Though this is not so much in your control).
But don’t forget to celebrate the little things you achieve as you work your way up. I’m very happy when Hivebuzz notifies me of an achievement I’ve made so far. I would advise that if you don't have your plans setup, you can target to achieve the goals Hivebuzz sets for you, those are pretty interesting goals too.
Power Up
A lot of people don’t count this or don’t talk about it as often as they should. Yes, we all agree that unlike on Steemit right now with their burdens of mandatory Power Ups, you’re at liberty and total freedom to do with your payouts what you wish.
You can cash every single HBD you make out and nobody would hate you for it(maybe some people will but basically I’m saying nobody and no whale forces you to power up any amount of your earnings. If you’re powering up, it should be according to your judgment about the importance of powering up or whatever reason you choose to power up for.
In every business or relationship, the parties want to be given security or assurance that they’re committing to someone that shows them they have their back at all times. Powering up is your way of telling Hive and the community that you trust in them and that you believe Hive will be worth a lot more in the future. The community knows you have long-term plans when you power up consistently. But like I said earlier, Don’t do it for the community, do it because you want to.
Powering up gives you more HP, so more Resource Credits(RCs) to interact. Don’t think you have a small Hive Power so you can’t make a difference. You think you can’t because you’re alone. Think of only 100 newbies voting on one post. That will significantly improve a post’s payout. I read a post the other day by 
Focus On Your Content, The Reward Will Come
I see a lot of rookies(including myself) make the mistake of chasing rewards on Hive. What value are you adding to Hive with your interactions? This is what you should be focused on. Value attracts money and even if not now, as long as you’re consistently producing quality content and adding value to the Hive ecosystem, you will eventually be recognized and that is when the rewards start coming.
How do you add value to Hive? Well that’s entirely up to you. Get creative. Maybe you produce original quality content about Finance exclusively for Hive that can’t be found elsewhere. Or you post about culture of people in your country. This is exotic information that you’ll only find on Hive. Instead of posting in the communities they’re content are focused on, most newbies try to make their posts about communities where they’ve noticed big payouts.
Your content shouldn’t be based on what will give you the highest upvotes. There are no votes guaranteed for anyone, and every post as long as it is quality and adds value to Hive stands an equal chance of blowing up. I really hope even I will take my advice and preach what I teach because it is tempting sometimes to post where there are more rewards.
Have Fun
You’re wondering how the heck this helps you succeed. I’ll tell you how. In my experience, when you’re having fun is when you’re genuinely you. Having fun will involve talking to people, exchanging ideas, and doing the things you love. All these will ensure that your following will solidly be people that are interested in and will engage with the content you produce.

Establece objetivos: deja que Hivebuzz sea tu mejor amigo

Otro error que cometen los novatos es establecer objetivos a largo plazo y, debido a que estos requieren mucho tiempo de trabajo duro y constancia para lograrlos, se sienten frustrados y desanimados cuando no logran sus objetivos a corto plazo. Puedes establecer objetivos como:
- Aumentar su HP en 100HP cada mes
- Objetivos de compromiso como dejar una cierta cantidad de comentarios (significativos, no comentarios de spam)
- Golpear una cierta reputación
Incluso puede establecer objetivos sociales como hacer una cantidad X de amigos o seguidores semanalmente (aunque esto no está bajo su control).
Pero no te olvides de celebrar las pequeñas cosas que logras a medida que avanzas. Estoy muy feliz cuando Hivebuzz me notifica un logro que he logrado hasta ahora. Le aconsejaría que si no tiene sus planes configurados, puede apuntar para lograr los objetivos que Hivebuzz establece para usted, que también son objetivos bastante interesantes.
Encender
Mucha gente no cuenta esto o no habla de ello con la frecuencia que debería. Sí, todos estamos de acuerdo en que, a diferencia de Steemit en este momento con sus cargas de Power Ups obligatorios, usted tiene la libertad total de hacer con sus pagos lo que desee.
Puedes cobrar cada uno de los HBD que hagas y nadie te odiaría por ello (tal vez algunas personas lo hagan, pero básicamente digo que nadie ni ninguna ballena te obligan a aumentar cualquier cantidad de tus ganancias.
