The client/therapist relationship is a fascinating dynamic, and occasionally hard to fathom.
I find that if I just think about human nature, it only makes sense to feel "close" to someone you're sharing (if it's working!) your innermost private and intimate thoughts and fears with. I know several therapists (including my wife) who openly state that therapy actually works better if there's a "love-like" connection there... because people are less likely to share openly if they feel "detached" from the therapist.
