For me, a real day off can be best summarized as the ability to just sit and read a book, and not be interrupted every 10 minutes.

I actually used to be a voracious reader, but it has been years since I've actually picked up a book for more than just a "quick scan." Which isn't to say that I don't *read,8 but it all tends to be the little fragments of online articles and blogs.
