Here in the States there is a similar "cost of living crisis." The most alarming statistic is that median household income has risen about 105% between 1999 and today - so a little more than doubled - while median housing costs have risen 392% over the same period. Many families now spend 50% of their income on rent/mortgage. At some point, that's all going to "break," in some way..
