What's very interesting and relevant to the whole marketing discussion is your path here, via Splinterlands. I have long believed that the best thing Hive can do for itself is have really excellent apps and content here, promote those to draw people, as a result of which people use the apps and then discover the social side, and it all grows hand in hand.
It is a really cool community, with lots of good alternative art and just people interacting with a lot less of the trollish activity that seems to be in most social venues. I'm also a nerdish introvert... and older than dirt; started doing the "web social" thing on old-time message boards in the mid-1990s.
The chance to connect outside the box is always there, and then there's the annual HiveFest which hopefully will move back to physical space after a couple of years of being virtual.
