Wise and thoughtful words, as always!

What do schools really teach us? They teach us how to follow a schedule, how to be somewhere on-time, how to be obedient, how to take tests.

I have a very nice University degree, but after several decades I really haven't used it for anything. I have never worked in the field (finance/economics) of that degree. It helped me get a job once and it was nothing related to my field of study... they just needed proof that I had completed (any) University degree.

A wise person once suggested that the best and most accurate way to determine what we should be doing as adults was to sit down and think about the five activities we most enjoyed as children (before age 14) during a time before our perception of fun and life was coloured by our environment. From those five activities, we will likely be able to derive the occupations that will make us happy and fulfilled, in adulthood.

I liked "telling stories" ==> I'm a writer
I liked "doodling" ==> as art, I paint tiny patterns on stones
I liked "looking for things" ==> not only do I enjoy "finding" stones to paint on, I have an entire life centered on "looking for things," whether it's collectible items at flea markets, old stamps in stamp collections or something else.

I stopped supporting the idea that I "should" have a job, in the traditional sense. So I don't have one. I do "bits and pieces" and whereas I am definitely "poor" by most standards... I also live a blessed life.

It's all about finding what means something to YOU.
