Yes, I believe in signs, but I also believe we create our own realities, as we go along... when I first moved to this town 14 years ago, I reveled in the fact that I was finally back on the coast after decades inland, and I would walk on the beach twice or more, every day. I was also unemployed, and had little money and few prospects... as I would walk the beach, I harbored a secret dream to get paid for walking on the beach. Some weeks later, I "followed a sign" downtown pointing to an arts and crafts show; there, I met a woman who made jewelry and art, using beach glass, driftwood and other "found objects." In time, I discovered there was an entire community of artists working with found objects, and a business walking on the beach, picking up odd bits and pieces and selling them to artists was born. So, in a sense, I followed the signs, as part of creating my reality.
