Yes, bots are a nuisance and they are definitely not "social." And they tend to destroy everything for those who actually want a human experience. Ironically, the earliest bot I can immediately think of was the one that automatically made Tom at MySpace your "friend" when you made an account there...

I like Hive, so far... it's certainly more human than most of these communities...
