Well, it's already late here on the US West Coast — and I don't actually fit the official parameters for "Hive Power-Up Day" — but in solidarity with the community movement, I'm "formally" powering up my little bit of liquid Hive:
It's not much — it will only increase my staked balance by less than 1% — but it all counts. So here we go:
And it is done!
About Hive Power Up Day...
This "tradition" actually started as "SPUD" (Steem Power Up Day) over on Steem. On the first of each month, people are encouraged to power up as many liquid tokens as possible... part of a greater effort to encourage people to HOLD tokens as stake rather than cash out their rewards.
The concept was originally created by @streetstyle almost two years ago, and is now coordinated here on Hive by
@traciyork.
And yes, there are prizes and other good stuff so why not give @traciyork a follow and be prepared to power up some Hive tokens on August 1st!
Further To My Own "Experiment"
In a post about a week back, I talked about having done a bit of an experiment for a month... in basically "not mentioning anything about Hive" in my posts for a 30-day period.
Since we're at the beginning of a new quarter, I've decided to use the next 90 days here for "External Publication."
What I mean by that, is that the time has come for me to reach out to the various online communities where I was active long before there was Steem and Hive... by simply writing posts/articles for THEM, that have nothing to do with making sense to a Hive audience.
The thing is, if we're going to grow our membership of content creators and consumers, we need to reach out in ways that make sense TO THEM, not so much to US.
So expect some pretty diverse fare over the next 90 days... that might be quite different from what you're used to seeing on these pages!
New and Improved "Recruiting" Tools
So why NOW?
Well, we now have better tools for reaching to an external audience than before.
PeakD (@peakd) now has a page views feature that will enable me to tell whether or not people are clicking the links. After all, what's the point of busting your butt on promoting, if you have no idea whether it's working?
And now we also have @hiveonboard which can help people who publicize Hive keep track of whether or not people sign up. You should check their web site, too!
So, I'm going to explore a bit and see whether any of the old "crowd" I used to blog with are still around... wish me luck!
Thanks for reading... and WELCOME TO JULY!
