RE: Spotlight On HBD: There is Hidden RISK Involved in “Chasing Big Numbers!”
Indeed, they are definitely very different. But they remain interdependent in the sense that if it is more attractive to hold HBD than Hive (in people's MINDS, regardless of the market movements) people

RE: Spotlight On HBD: There is Hidden RISK Involved in “Chasing Big Numbers!”
I am on 50/50 post rewards, as well. I am also slowly building a savings balance in HBD. And I reckon I'll keep doing that for as long as I feel inclined/have time to actively post. The thing that concerns

I'm by no means opposed to the idea, as long as there isn't some change to the code that suddenly releases many millions of HBD into the system.

RE: I can do what I want, right?
I'm glad I got to meet your dad; he was a pretty awesome guy! And yeah, you can do what you want to. Because we're adults now.

I can't even imagine what the Houston Galleria looks like nowadays; last time I was there was probably 2005, right before I moved from Texas to Washington state... but it was certainly the

RE: Life's Annoyances: When Paywalls Are Used as Ransomware!
In my 5+ years here I have used maybe a dozen images (in 1800+ posts) that weren't my own. So at least I always have my own back-up versions stored locally, if push comes to shove. But as @edb pointed

Indeed, none of the options are without some risk. That's a good point about tech support posts losing a bunch of content... much of which remains valid for older versions of apps and hardware. But who's

It's the somewhat sneaky and manipulative way they do it that annoys me the most. I forget the name now, but one of the other big "free image hosting" sites did the same thing, a few years back.

RE: Life's Annoyances: When Paywalls Are Used as Ransomware!
I think I'm more annoyed about it because it feels like manipulation and exploitation, than I'm annoyed by the actual cost. I'd likely be willing to pay for hosting services if the fees were out in the

RE: Saturday Musings: Sudden Random Onsets of Old Memories
I can't really afford such things, either, which is why I have none left and I refuse to sign up for anything that's a "free trial" that will start charging me money later. If I can't clearly

It seems fairly consistent that as we age, we also years to simplify our surroundings and environment. Even though I was never one driven by an obsession for "filling" my life with everything,

Yeah, I have multiple accounts. Like you, I have a "main" account (this one), which is used for most of my content. However, I also have a separate "alt" account for my artwork, because

Sometimes I think it's a true miracle that we can all communicate as well as we do. And, to be honest? I was still sort of hoping for pictures of 1950's pompadour-ish hair...

RE: Cognitive Blinders and Dissonance: Which World Do You LIVE In?
Indeed, that's often what is at the heart of the matter: People are unable or unwilling to step outside their own paradigm to entertain the possibility that someone else's paradigm is no more or less

Hi Denise! Yes, perception is pretty much all we have. And our perceptions tend to center on our beliefs. As author Arthur C. Clarke once observed: "We surmise, but we do not KNOW. That's why it's

RE: A Random Meander on the Mysteries of Prosperity
We humans do seem to have taken the very process of living life and have turned it into something far excessive to what we actually need to just live a peaceful and contented life.

Yeah, we're kind of in the woods, too, although there is a fairly large community around us (about 800 homes). Yes, I am not fond of those whole-house generators... I walk outside and can hear the three

We're about five miles outside town; the lines run through heavily wooded areas and there's a lot of wind here because we're basically at the tip of a peninsula. The rest is pretty self-explanatory. Cooking

Ah, so you know the area well! The infrastructure in Andalucia was pretty "thin" towards the end of the Franco era (I was there 1972-80). I returned many years later; my parents lived as retired
