RE: It's The Little Things...
The small things do make a difference. Sad thing is, we often don't even notice or appreciate them until they suddenly aren't there, one day. And yes, I did notice the various phrases on Threads, and that's

RE: Sometimes we just have to give ourselves the thing we want.
I think what I have mostly realized as I age is that there are remarkably few things that I feel a need for or want of. Certainly, there are some things that would be nice to have but I'm quite content

RE: Morning Thoughts: Sleep, Sunshine and Social and the Buoyant Effects of Hope
I remember when I was a kid my parents worried a lot about my lack of social interest and would tell people I was "shy" but I really wasn't... I just didn't like how tired I felt after a lot

RE: Report: 70% of Americans financially stressed
Living among that 70%, I can attest to that "financial stress" being something that just saps your energy and sucks most of the joy out of being alive. There is something seriously out of balance

RE: Morning Thoughts: Writing vs. "Writing About" Something
Good on you for getting the taxes in early! Being self-employed with several "microbusinesses," I'm not a diligent enough bookkeeper to have everything ready until we approach tax day... We really

RE: 25 Years of Blogging — An Anniversary, of Sorts!
Wow, 1991! That's really early... sounds like the times of "text only" web sites and 7200 baud dial-up connections!

RE: 25 Years of Blogging — An Anniversary, of Sorts!
My first email that I used was actually "
[email protected]
" so the name has stuck! I did have a Compuserve email before that but the (lack of) usability was so horrible I just gave up on it.

RE: I'm Just Not 29 Anymore!
I guess I first noticed that pushing the mower around during the summer months doesn't really feel any different... but how I feel the day after certainly does!

I'm glad the option was there, to be sure! It will probably take a good 3 years to rebuild my stake... time will tell!

We're definitely grateful that we had this as a fallback option. This past year has just been "the perfect storm" of financial mishaps...

Yes, property tax is totally an abomination. Don't get me wrong, I like having roads, fire department, schools and so on as much as the next person, but so much of what we pay merely goes to

RE: When the trees bloom
Yes, it is beautiful to see the trees flower at this time of the year! And the fruit will definitely come if you already have bees visiting the flowers.

Ah, the joy of postcards! Makes me think of part of my childhood when we were always moving around and traveling, and post cards were the way we always stayed in touch with the family back home. These

RE: Modern Times? A Scam Under Every Stone! Gardeners Beware!
That's pretty much what you have to do, "stay on them like religion." The thing that makes it trickier is that Google tends to log your searches and the scam ads are purchased off genuine search

Gross and pathetic, yes. I was willing to get a "cheap copy" and brace it up with my own angle iron... but this was just an outright joke. Sadly, greed rules in this day and age.

Oh, yeah, it's an almost endless parade of cheap copies of the original. In many cases, you do get actual products... but nothing like the original. My wife bought what was allegedly a cool lamp... very

Alas, that old truism is particularly important in this day and age where people have little patience and "instant money" evidently seems like a real thing, to a substantial demographic.

Sadly it seems you're right about Facebook and being trustable. I see more scammy ads on Facebook than almost anywhere... yes, I do use Facebook quite a bit, mostly because I help manage a business page
