So, I just completed my first ever ”Hive Power-up Month” challenge.
I suppose most of us are familiar with the long running tradition of ”Hive Power-up DAY” (HPUD) on the first day of the month, but there is also a (perhaps lesser known) Hive Power-up Month challenge in which you power up some Hive every single day of a month in order to earn a @hivebuzz badge.
Which I have now managed to do for the first time in my almosy ten years here. At least I have qualified, by completing the required power-ups, but I think there's a bug in the @hivebuzz system because their web site states that NOBODY has earned this badge... and, in fact, NOBODY has earned this badge in any month of 2026.
Leave it to me to finally complete a challenge of some sort when the system is on the fritz! Maybe @hivebuzz will comment and provide an update?
I decided to try to accomplish this particular feat due to the shockingly low price of Hive a little while back. I was getting frustrated by the fact that the token value had dropped so low that I wasn't even able to be sure that a 100% upvote would lift a worthy comment above the infamous "dust threshold" of two cents.
Powering up repeatedly seemed like the best way to build some stake when you're someone who can't afford to actually buy Hive tokens.
The challenge requires you only to power up one Hive a day in order to qualify, but I set myself the goal of powering up a minimum of ten Hive a day... or however much liquid rewards I had available each morning when I checked in.
I'm typically not fond of these kinds of self-congratulatory milestone posts but I did want to put this somewhere in my archives, because one of the joys of posting to a venue like this is the fact that you can come back and look at when something happened pretty much in perpetuity. So this is as much as anything from my own benefit.
Besides — as I have pointed out in the past — these blogs are also our personal spaces; our personal records, which should give us the freedom to also make notes that might not be of great interest to others.
I'm actually fairly proud of this achievement, in the sense that I am historically so scattered that taking on any longer term daily challenges tends to be an automatic invitation to failure. I get a week in, and then I lose interest. That's just one of the many "joys" of living with ADHD!
Not sure whether I am going to continue with this pattern... but I might. Even though the crypto markets — as a whole — and Hive seem to have recovered a little bit, I suppose every small attempt to build balances rather than to sell helps retain a little value. In some small way.
Maybe I'm just deluding myself.

Greetings bloggers and social content creators! This article was created via PeakD, a blogging application that's part of the Hive Social Content Experience. If you're a blogger, writer, poet, artist, vlogger, musician or other creative content wizard, come join us! Hive is a little "different" because it's not run by a "company;" it operates via the consensus of its users and your content can't be banned, censored, taken down or demonetized. And that COUNTS for something, in these uncertain times! So if you're ready for the next generation of social content where YOU retain ownership and control, come by and learn about Hive and make an account!
