All mechanics beside HDB stabilizer were already implemented two years ago and HBD was not stable we had long períodos below or higher $1.
We've only had one 'long period' of depegging since hard fork 25 introduced the Hive to HBD conversion, when HBDstablizer was also much less well capitalized than it is today.
While HBD will likely never maintain a perfect peg, it has only been getting better and better, and is far better than either the early days of Hive or the Steem days.
Depegging can happen, but as long as the market cap of Hive is much higher than HBD, a temporary depegging doesn't have to undermine confidence in the whole system - depegging is not a catastrophe.
