I live in the middle of nowhere, so I don't see much, but the last time I was in Dublin, I happened to be passing a Tesco when two big, burly foreigners walked, not ran but walked, out carrying armfuls of beer and crisps they'd apparently just stolen. A tiny Indian security guard came charging after them, attempted to grab the loot, and failing miserably, simply toddled back inside. I lived in the city most of my life and have never before seen such blatant robbery. At least Irish shoplifters have the grace to skulk.
