We did make it across the channel. We took a ferry from Britain to the Hook Of Holland and then hired a car.

Yes, technically Germany had joined the west but I don't think that particular hotel got the memo!:)

We stayed together for about 5 years, after which he cheated on me with the barista from the local coffee shop.
