Nov. 4, 22: Routine, ZombieRun, Quest, Leaves Again, Teaching Prep, TV, and Games
If I recall correctly, I actually slept in bed today! 😯 However, between not falling asleep until around eleven again and being woken up periodically during the night and getting up at seven anyway I ended up a good hour and a half short on sleep. 😢
I had some coffee in the morning and a Red Bull in the afternoon, so I made it through without crashing and was, even, moderately productive, but I can feel it starting to drag on me a little already.
Got a fairly early start on the morning routine, at least relatively speaking, and the crypto markets were looking pretty nice. In particular, my alts on Polygon popped and I gained back quite a bit verus ETH. HIVE was still sitting below $.5, but holding more or less steady just below.
Otherwise, played a bit of WombPlay games, did some curation, checked on the SOL market, got caught up on Discord…all the normal spiel, and then got a solid start on my post.
I actually finished up with my post (and a decent one at that) about half an hour early and I thought about scheduling it and heading out for a run right away, but I ended up starting on some early prep for next Tuesday’s calculus class and didn’t go until after posting time.
Decided to push myself a little today and go for a six kilometer Zombierun. 💪 I didn’t actually run all that much, though, to be honest.
Last mission we finally uncovered the evidence that the Minister not only was behind the conspiracy against us, but in fact created the zombie 🧟♂️ virus and purposely unleashed the apocalypse on the world, but we needed to get that information out. We couldn’t risk/trust any of the traditional broadcast methods, so the only choice was for me to physically run the proof to the neighboring city.
Not too many zombs out there today, only two! 😮 I still have them set slightly easier (15% above pace), so not getting warnings and they’re fairly easy to evade. Two for two zombies 🧟♂️ evaded and mission complete.
Only sixty degrees out and pretty windy, but I didn’t make the mistake of wearing long stuff this time. I figured I’d be running and would get wicked hot, and I was right. Felt fine with just a long-sleeve shirt on.
It’s usually snowed at least once by now, but so far we’ve only had those few cold and rainy days, but otherwise quite nice.
Got back, had some lunch, and then considered sitting at the computer, but busted out the Quest instead. Killed a good hour and a half or so working on the four hundred piece version of the haunted house on Puzzling Places and then quit out to check on whether or not there was going to be any Pizza Trivia today.
Unfortunately, there was a scheduling conflict and so there wasn’t any Trivia today. 😭😭😭 I didn’t commit suicide, though, since it’s rescheduled for tomorrow. 😰😛 BUT, that meant I didn’t have any good excuse for not working…did a little more prep for class and then decided to take care of what will (hopefully) be the last of the leaves on the front lawn.
I refilled the blower’s gas last time and it was the end of the 50:1 gas ⛽️ can, so I was praying that it would get me to the end of the job, but it sputtered out a little over halfway through. 😡 I debated whether or not to make another gallon (turns out I had just enough 2-cycle oil for one more batch) since gas goes stale if it sits. Realized that the snow blower is also 50:1, so no real reason not to make a some and I went down, got a gallon, and made some up.
For some reason it wanted to fight me getting started again. I think it’s because it ran dry, so I had to get the fuel system restarted, but the fuel mixture is even better than the last batch and it ran smoothly with even a bit more power than before (no smoke anyway 😁).
I got that done (for like the fourth time now and despite the fact that the wind wanted to work against me the whole time as well) and had just about enough time to smoke a cigarette before Wenche got home from work.
Spent a lot of time today (basically all the time I was walking and working on the lawn) thinking about Mythix. Not so much rehashing the gameplay (which I think I’m fairly decided on - for now), but about the economic side of things. At the moment, the only way to really earn legit crypto is to sell cards on the market. I mean, you can earn MTX (and perhaps cards) playing (is the plan), but MTX isn’t transferable or tradable (worried about money laundering and terrorist funding and all that regulatory crap I have to worry about, or being and unlicensed exchange or whatever…) and can only be used to create/upgrade cards or to buy cards on the market…
That’s fine, that’s by design, but then if someone wants to grind to earn by selling cards on the market there’s a clear supply, but where’s the demand? Sure, new players looking to get ahead by paying to save some time, maybe, but that’s very Ponzi and not necessarily stable.
The sort of obvious and easy answer is to merge cards, pretty much every collectible card game has that mechanic. But that’s exactly why I wanted to avoid it…plus I hate the idea of destroying cards (you can if you want, but I don’t particularly like building into the design).
Speaking of not wanting to copy everyone else, I keep coming back to the idea of packs…I don’t want to sell packs, I want to sell Mythicore and let players create the cards they want…but then I have to set all the forging costs (which basically sets a price for each card) and I’d rather let the market decide. There will be a sort of base value regardless by looking at how much MTX and/or Shards have been put into that card, so I don’t know.
Considering, perhaps, having forging recipes be one of the things you can get in a pack to unlock the ability to create specific cards. I kind of like that idea, but it’s not really solid yet…speaking of ideas I like, thought of a Beastmaster amulet that would allow you to summon two beasts (pretty set on only having one beast per run)…also toying with the idea of stars ⭐️ on cards…like a one star only has a base ability, two stars also a stronger ability, and then three stars like a powerful magic attack or something…maybe Unicorn ⭐️⭐️⭐️ can revive you once per run; not quite sure about all that yet, though, either.
Thought about making MTX an H-E token as well and allowing users to withdraw and exchange over there instead of only being able to sell cards on the market. That has its troubles, though as well. I’m trying to only make money from MTX sales and market fees (not every which way and not from selling cards/packs) and if players can get MTX for “free” by playing and then can sell it on the market for whatever price they want, it’s unlikely anyone would buy it from me pegged 100 to a dollar and I’ve cut off my primary source of income. 😭
I’m already planning on making an H-E token MTXY, so considered making that the token instead, but still the same problems. Right now it’s looking like packs and card fusion are the best solutions, but we’ll see; I don’t want to be just like all the others.
Anyway, Wenche made us some pasta and meat sauce for dinner and I took care of the dishes, and then we pretty much just chilled in front of the tube for the rest of the evening as normal.
Woah, alrighty then. The dShitty flag has unfurled and is waving proudly in the wind of the passing shitstorm. Three, count ‘em, crises: riots, fires, and a power outage AND a Shopping Mall robbery. 🤬🤬🤬 Only General Crime could have made that day any shittier.
For once, finally, my Ego is back under control on Rising Star and the drunks have gone (for the moment), so I can properly go back to slogging missions again…still what, eleven more levels to go before even unlocking the next mission? Maybe sometime next year. 😛😭
I did actually consider sitting down at the computer and dealing with HashKings today, but I felt so guilty about not working on the website (and not motivated really to get sucked into it…) and I didn’t. Going on a week nearly now, should get it done.
I guess this is the slump after the Splinterlands season ends; definitely not earning as much, but still averaging out to about $3 per day, maybe a little less now.
I’m thinking it might be time to move some DEC out…kinda’ thought about recycling it back in, getting some packs or something (otherwise my account isn’t growing in any way), but I do have a goal of buying back SOL that I’m saving liquid for, so since I have a purpose I should probably swap out.
Claimed my SPS interest for the day and left it liquid. It was the third day today and so I withdrew all but enough to pay the rental fees and decided to just take the price as it was and swapped them all out right away.
I also finally pulled the trigger with the vouchers I had sitting on the market and swapped all of them out. At the moment I don’t have any dry powder, but there is that DEC from rental income…
