July 14, 22: Routine, Errands, Oculus, Pizza Party, Teaching, TV, and Games

Today was meant to be the first opportunity I’ve had to relax since the dumpster showed up. However, I did have plans to meet up on video for an extra exam review, so that was kind of hanging over my head. I was also still a little stressed about the Libertarian politics I’ve gotten myself into, but I tried to chill and take care of my morning routine.

Crashed out about eight last night (and totally slept in my clothes 😢) and was up at four for another solid hour short on sleep. Still, it’s me waking up, im not being woken up, so I guess it’s enough sleep? 🤷

Did the usual morning routine and cryptos are still more or less range-bound. I’m seeing a little recovery against ETH on Polygon, but really looking to get out here as soon as possible. Honestly, kind of second-guessing putting that investment into HIVE because of the behavior (made manifest as I’ll explain shortly) of the downvote vigilantes.

Otherwise, got caught up on Discord, played some Wombat games, did some curation, shifted tokens…all the same stuff I normally do and then worked on my post and got it done and shared.

I will say that after I got my post published and was looking to try and let my shoulders down for the first time in a week, my stress level went through the roof (and I’m still pissed off to the point of shaking). Acidyo came around with his myopic vision of Hive as nothing more than a blogging platform and his might-makes-right attitude threatening (at first implicitly and then explicitly) to downvote me.

Apparently, I also don’t comment enough for his (very refined) opinion. Posting a thousand words a day every day for years, being involved with communities, playing blockchain games, and trying to build my own projects…nah, I’m just a milker, eh? Fucking dick.

Although, mark my words, there will be a day when I will negate him (and the other self-proclaimed “heroes” who impose their ideology on the users of this chain by means of force - and, worse, not even with their own power, but power delegated to them)…however, it’s unlikely that I’ll be able to compete when they conspire as they do - sure, Marky or Acidyo themselves, I will negate them - OCDB, only if I get comparable delegations.

The situation did seem to diffuse after I cow towed to him and turned off an autovote I had set. Why in the world he thinks he has any right to dictate who and why I vote is completely beyond me, but the fact is: he currently has the power to bully me.

Is that just? Not in the least. Is that the game? Yup, and my only option right now is to grow my power so as not to have to fear him (them). However, I’d much rather grow my power because I believe in the future of the chain and want to build things here rather than to spite those who think they’re some kind of Batman. [At least he gave me a solid excuse to bump my word count for today’s post 😛]

Despite feeling sick and worried and all the rest of it because one asshole that refuses to mind their business (oh, and trust me he feels justified that it is his business), there’s only three days left in the Into the Radius beta testing, so I tried to put it out of my mind and play some Oculus for a while.

It was (and is even now) hard to focus, but I did make some progress and gave some more feedback over in their Discord…Oh! I nearly forgot (see I can’t focus), I ran my weekly errands that I needed to get done as well. Guess I should add that to the title. Took the dog with me for the ride and just hit the usual spots and headed home…then I got stressed out and then tried to play Oculus.

Quit out, got some lunch, and then started working on getting my chalkboard area cleaned up (hadn’t used it in over a year) and getting things ready for the Zoom meeting with my classes. I realized, though, why I thought Zoom sucked: it’s limited to forty minutes. Luckily, it struck me that it’s totally possible to stream video right there in Discord! 👍

Spent some time messing with that and correcting the permissions for the channel so that I could use the voice activation but students would need push-to-talk to cut down on background noise. Got it all set up and even fired up the old computer so I could watch the chat (which actually didn’t take that long to load up - I think that corrupted system file was what was making it so bad).

Raven had her get-together on Pizza Discord, so I went over for a while and listened to mash-ups, played some trivia, and these fun battle game things (but I got killed and didn’t win anything 😢), and got a few nice airdrops…speaking of which, I think I have enough to justify pulling some out and getting them staked! 🍕

Anyway, Wenche made us some pasta and meat sauce for dinner and I was able to get a nice dinner before class time (wasn’t sure if there’d be enough time in there). Met up with class for about an hour and a half or so, basically went through examples of all the types of problems on the Final again and, even though I’m not happy about it, a student recorded it and posted it to YouTube for the other students.

Plopped in front of the tube and watched a little bit of Elementary, but it wasn’t long before I was out again.

Oh, ok. Now we got fires and a robbery on top of negative income. dShitty, you continue to astound me.

Trying to remember…actually, with everything that happened today, I think I did only go in once on Rising Star. I put in that lesson in the morning and that was it. My Ego is back to zero, though, so missions it is.

I did have a flash of temptation to deal with HashKings when I fired up the old laptop, but, I was getting ready for a meeting and didn’t really have the time, so it’s still sitting in the same spot. 🤬

It was already pretty late (past bedtime already 😛) when I got done with the class meeting and got ready for bed. I considered playing some Splinterlands, but only ended up staking my SPS drop for the day and then leaving it. I guess they did push the new update so that it’s split into Modern and Wild…more crap to worry about? We’ll see. I’ll probably just stick to Wild and not mess with it.
