This is my contribution to #FungiFriday by @ewkaw! ...
My husband spotted some prominent mushrooms on a lawn back in August. He has a keen eye for spotting things hidden from my eyes although pretty much in plain sight .. lol. He drove up to where they were and, man oh man, I wished I had more than my phone camera but I was still excited because I knew I was looking at a grouping of mushrooms known as a "Fairy Circle". Okay, it may have been more of a semi-circle but regardless I was still excited! Is it normal to get so excited over mushrooms? You bet it is! I think that is how most people in the "fungi" community feel as well.
This is where we saw the huge mushrooms which were just by the road.
Then I noticed more huge mushrooms up towards some apartments. You know I really wanted to venture up to them for a closer look but at that point I thought I would be approaching where people actually lived so I didn't go up out of respecting the space of other people.
Naturally, I wanted to do some edits on the mushrooms. My photos were taken in very bright sun and with only my phone camera they weren't the best. I also wanted to post this a couple of weeks ago for the "art" post but wasn't able to due to being sick so here we are.
Because this wasn't a full "Fairy Circle" or "Faery Circle", I decided to try to make it one using the photo I took of the mushrooms right by the road which is the fourth photo from the top of my post!
After my final edit this is what I came up with. The "Fairy Circle" became a portal where the Fairies could come and go between our world and theirs. Their wings lighting up the Summer night as they danced in the cover of darkness. I think that imagination is what is exciting about finding (or your husband finding) a grouping of mushrooms such as these. I'm sure that at some point the circle was broken and the Fairies made it back to their realm before it was fully closed but if not then perhaps you can see one sometime as a tiny flickering in a summer nights sky! 馃挅
