Linear regression helps you figure out how one thing correlates with another
So on the x axis you have what is sometimes called the independent or the explanatory variable
so say amount of sunlight in a day or whatever
and on the y axis, you will have the dependent/response variable
which is what responds to the changes in x
say, amount of ice creams sold
in the example I give, it shows that when there is more sunlight, you might get more ice creams sold
which shows a positive correlation between the two
and that is useful cause it helps us figure out whether there are links between things
in this case more sun, means greater heat, peopel might want more ice cream idk its a dumb simple example
That's the point of linear regression, finding how variables relate to each other
