My country is full of natural beauty. There are six seasons. With six seasons, each one has its own unique characteristics. So, to nature-loving people, each season comes with different appeal. It is winter here now. The dew of winter morning and the cold wind let us know its presence. As Bangladesh situated in a temperate region, winter conditions are not so severe here rather it remains at a moderate level. Only there is a little cold in North Bengal area in winter season, but it is not unbearable. As a result, the people of this country quite enjoy the winter.

Different types of seasonal crops are grown in winter season in Bangladesh. Rice and mustard yields are among them. Farmers cultivate mustard in the field just before planting paddy. When the field is full of mustard plants, the mustard yellow flowers make the whole field look beautiful. That is a wonderful sight. The yellow mustard blossoms on the horizon seem to have spread yellow colouring throughout the field. When this mustard plants are matured, seeds are collected from it and these are transformed to oil with the help of machine.

After the completion of mustard cultivation, the farmers make the field suitable for subsequent paddy cultivation. That means they can plant two crops on the same land, one crop is paddy and another one is mustard. While I went out for a walk that morning, saw the farmers were cultivating the field. It is easy to cultivate lands in winter season compared to summer due to cool weather. I was talking with few farmers and they acknowledged that they enjoy farming in this season.

Another important winter crop is winter vegetables. Starting from Beans, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Tomatoes and many more vegetables are cultivated in winter season. Just as farmers benefit from growing these crops, so should ordinary people benefit from getting fresh vegetables. The good news is that many young educated people nowadays are leaning towards farming. So, it is to be hoped that these young people can make an agricultural revolution in this country.

A variety of winter cakes are made in the winter season in rural areas, making it a festive season. As I had less time, I could not enjoy winter cakes. As I grown up in village, always enjoy the beauty of nature. So, whenever I go to my native village, I stay less time at home, I roam around the village and enjoy every part of our natural resources. Yes, the village is our roots. Wherever I stay, I never forget this root because this is my identity.
