This is another classic movie I was recommended to watch months ago but I didn't have the chance to watch it until very recently. The story is for the most part about a man and an extraterrestrial from a civilization that is just as advanced as ours, which means they can wage war and produce something close to a tie.

The movie begins when this man and this alien crash their ship in an alien planet that none of them knows. At first, the man tries to kill this extraterrestrial but eventually they realize that if they want to survive in this hostile planet, they will have to join forces and become allies.

This is how a friendship starts to develop between the 2 former enemies, who also begin protecting themselves against all the dangers around them that can easily put their lives at risk or even cause them death.

This film shows us how can 2 different individuals find common ground and forget their differences in order to improve their lives and I think anyone can extrapolate these teachings to other situations in real life.

As we can see in the picture above, the extraterrestrial looks were undoubtedly well-done. One of the things I didn't quite enjoy, was that despite its good and positive message, the movie was at times kind of boring for me. The dated look on all of the dangers and threats might have had an influence on this.

Nevertheless, the movie is well worth the watch, it has some touching moments and a plot that is very original.

The best

  • Great makeup with the extraterrestrial, especially given the fact this movie is from 1985.
  • A story with good and positive lessons.
  • Some funny moments between the man and the extraterrestrial.

The worst

  • Some parts were a little bit predictable and boring.
  • Dated looks in the settings and space ships, this is understandable though.
