Do you know how much users worldwide benefit from the internet technology every day? More than 3 billion users benefit from the internet technology globally. The internet that we know today has gone through several stages of evolution since 1994.

First it was Web 1.0 transforming into Web 2.0 which is a more dynamic and user driven internet. In Web 2.0 website become more interactive.

And now we have Web 3.0 which is also known as the decentralized internet, the next general of internet technology.

Web 3.0 promise to create an internet that is more fair and transparent and anybody could participate without having to worry about their privacy.

Web 3.0 is believed to provide everyone with equal rights and deliver actual value to its consumers. It is also believed that advertising and marketing will have the most important positive effects.

In Web 3.0, users are rewarded with tokens rather than vouchers or loyalty points. These tokens can be used in voting on the future of application or they could be cashed out. The interoperability is believed to increase between individuals and corporations.

Web3 Decentralized Social Media Platforms

As I believe Web 3.0 is still in its initial stage and we see some of the decentralized social media platforms being created recently, if Web 3.0 is adopted on a mass level, we could see the expansion of these different decentralized social media platforms with a bunch more to come.

Social media is something that encourages networking, communication, community development and sharing of knowledge. Social media could also be used for marketing and promotion of businesses like as we see on Facebook, Twitter etc.

Apart from the the business point of view, social media could also be used to push social and political change, create awareness about certain topics, generate donations for the needy and driving social and political change.

Decentralized social media networks run on their own servers rather on a centralized server that is being owned by an organization or a company.

Hive, is such a decentralized social network. Users having accounts on Hive are the owners here. They can access their wallets (with the keys) when they want. On Hive, they are in control of their assets.

Hive does look to have a good potential if a lot more people know about Web 3.0 and they went on adopting it.
