Motivation and Discipline are the terms often taken as interchangeable but there is a difference between the two terms.

Motivation: Having a reason to act or accomplish something.
Discipline: The practice of training people.

Motivation in this context is a noun. There is no action involved. Motivation is out of our control as how and when we feel motivated to do something.

Let's say for example you start your fitness, a business journey etc, you feel motivated about it initially but there is no guarantee that this motivation is going to continue for long. Your motivation may fade at some point.

This is where the importance of discipline comes in. You have to tap into your discipline to get going.

Discipline helps push you through the times when your motivation is low.

Motivation is good for inspiration but it is fleeting. It helps us take on new challenges. When your motivation is high, take advantage of it. It will surely but temporarily slip away.

In these times building discipline around your habits will help in ensuring the long-term success of those habits.

How many users have you seen joining Hive feeling motivated about it? But after some time, they quit. Why? There is no more motivation.

For me, motivation and discipline go side by side here on Hive. I feel motivated thinking of the earnings from Hive but at the same time I have to be disciplined enough to post at least once in a day. You have to find a reason to get your motivation back.

Hive is not a get rich quick scheme, so it will need your discipline getting to your long-term goals here.

If you're trying to get to your long-term term goals, you will need to show discipline.

What are your thoughts about motivation and discipline?
