One of the most terrifying scene I have got to experience was when I traveled to Benin, that was the second time I had travel to Benin. The most terrifying part was that my parents didn’t know that I was traveling, I left school to go visit my partner and then something scary happened.
First off, I didn’t know that route to Benin was very bad, so I got to the bus park, paid for my ticket and waited for the bus to be filled then the journey started, normally this journey wasn’t suppose to take more than 1hour 30 mins or at most 2hours.
I went there during December period, everywhere was full dust, there was a massive long traffic on the road, I legit couldn’t breath very well because of the dust, some part of the road was very bad to the extent that the bus bends to the side as if it is going to flip over, thats how I would just be shouting “Jesus” in mind and head. I was just praying that I get to where I was going safely and sound, It got to a point that we were just moving from one lane to another, we move on one lane for like 10mins then we switch to the other lane, it went on and on like that.
When we got to the bridge, it became free a bit so the driver started to speed up so we could get to Benin on time, because the journey was becoming too long and tiring, while we were on a very fast speed, one trailer from nowhere came from behind us and over took our vehicle, the next we heard was a very loud sound, I was so scared and shocked, the trailer had the lexus car in front us, he didn’t just hit the car, the force had pushed the car to extreme end where the bridge iron protector was, immediately it was as if the car got stuck to the protector, and the trailer was just pushing it continuously, I couldn’t believe my eyes, because it was actually God that saved us, it could have been our vehicle.
It was God and also the bridge protector that saved that car because the car would have just gone down into that very big river, I was so scared for me life because what if something had to our vehicle and I was affected, none of my family member knew that I was out of school not to talk of traveling to Benin, coming down from the bridge to meet up with another traffic again was the deal breaker for me, the journey was one I never thought of experiencing, so many people literally came down from their respective buses and started trekking.
When I finally got to my destination, my face wasn’t smiling at all, I was being asked what the problem was but I didn’t even say a thing, I dropped my bag, entered into bathroom and had bath, then I went to straight to bed to reminisce about the accident.
