Hello, ladies of Hive!
Beliefs in those days were so terrifying, especially to children, and all those things had never occurred before in their lives, and they never experienced them either. Let me say, it was trans-generational beliefs and they had to transfer to us as children. They believed so much in things that were not valid and authentic. In this life, don't allow your belief system to break you or discourage you from going forward in life. When I was a child, I was scared of many things said by people like don't do this and if you see the consequences but as I grew up, those things didn't exist, and it wasn't the genuine truth to believe.
I am so happy to participate in this contest and I would like to share with you what my parents, grandparents, and others told me about keeping a mirror under the sun and peeping through it for some minutes, how it can bring out a Mermaid that's Mami wata in the mirror. In those days, I tried it out. And nothing happened, I didn't see any marine spirit appearing in the mirror kept under the sun.
2️⃣ What is something you believed as a child that you later found out was not true?
So I laughed and I even tried it again in front of my parents. They shouted that I shouldn't do it that the spirit will appear. I told them to calm down, that I have tried this before, and nothing happened. So they watched as I dropped our big mirror under the sun and peeped through for some minutes without anything happening. When I was done, I told them not to deceive people about all these; it doesn't exist, it's not genuine, and acceptable. But there has been a paradigm shift over the years, and I thank God, people's mindset has been totally reformed, and there's nothing like that in our present generation.
Thank you ladiesofhive of contest for bringing memories of my childhood days and I am happy to share. #300
