Soulkeeper isn't doing something exactly new, but, they have interesting production going on compared to other bands in those genres. (And, their drummer is pretty good compared to a lot in those genres.) Most metalcore/hardcore bands don't have weird digital sounding effects in their music, especially live. It's very different from the normal production I hear in metal music these days, a lot of bands will just use generic effects like pick scrapes, or will take advantage of ambient noises. Some use orchestra style music/effects. But, usually not sounds that a DJ at an EDM festival would use just interjected randomly throughout the song without influencing the genre.
Also, I don't blame you on skipping the tab. No chance in hell I'd be able to do what he does, at least not for another 6 or 7 years of practicing if I'm lucky.
