I knew going into it that they were going to be corny, because they're fucking turbo virgins in the book basically. I think we just both went in with different expectations and wants from the film. I knew it wasn't going to be as good as The Shining, because it's fucking impossible to live up to it. But, I thought it took it's own fun twist with combining the source material of the previous film with the Doctor Sleep novel. I also though the cinematography and scoring was excellent, and pretty much everyone gave a solid performance minus a few people in the group of psychic vampires.

I also watched the directors cut which has an extra 30 minutes of scenes with a chapter system implemented as well, so my experience is a bit different from what you saw. Definitely respect your opinion either way, though. Just was surprised is all. Though I believe we've had some disagreements before, like how I thought Hellboy 2019 was a masterpiece of dog shit that everyone should go watch.
