Favoritism refers to the practice of giving preferential treatment or advantages to a certain individual or groups over others. Often based on personal biases, relationships or other subjective factors rather than objective criteria. Favoritism can be manifested in countless forms like parents who shower one child with affection while neglecting another's, the leader who rewards loyalty over competence, the manager who consistently promotes a friend regardless of merit. I noticed this even in my house. My mom sometimes even ever comes to hard work she always want me to do it living my two brothers doing nothing, even if i manage to finish it another work waits for me to do forgetting my two brothers are doing nothing. I get paste up sometimes but i have no choice than to do the word ,but why does favoritism flourish ,why do people practice favoritism is very crucial to combusting it human naturally drawn to people who are similar to us ,people who flatter us or who fulfill our emotional needs ,this bias makes a constant struggle ,confirmation bias further leads individual to notice and remember positive attributes in those we favor and negative ones to those we don't.
Laziness and practicality also brings favoritism. Evaluating people's objective requires time ,effort and sometimes uncomfortable confrontation relying on familiar faces or gut feelings is easier than implementing rigorous transparent processes. Favoritism can be a tool for insecure leaders to surround themselves with unquestioning support ,building their power base, it creates dependent in groups whose primary allegiances is to the leaders and not necessarily the organization goals, favoritism succeed in environments where decisions are unclear and there are no effective mechanism for feedback or challenge without clear standards and oversight, personal bias easily fills the vacuum also in some culture they prioritize family or groups obligations bias and tribalism is deeply ingrained and even expected, sometimes clashing directly with principles of equality of opportunity and fairness.
