I bought this amazing architect desk some years ago. It was in someone's backyard when I found it through Gumtree; exposed to the elements, the metal parts covered in rust, the wooden top buckled and chipped. For $50 dollars and the problem to be solved of fitting it into a 1992 Toyota Corolla Hatchback, it was mine. Some days of patiently scrubbing the rust with a wire brush and applying rust treatment later, the desk was like new. Since then it's been my traditional media drawing desk, doubling as a 'planning station' for complex projects and forward-thinking. There is something liberating about doodling and note-taking on a large sheet of paper that I know is too large to keep, and will therefore end in the bin. No hesitation, no second thoughts- I can just doodle whatever. Although none of this will end up in a gallery, or is worthy of finishing, I find it interesting as a collection.
