Why is it that some people are very lucky and some people aren't so lucky?

This is a question we ask ourselves all the time. Why are we so much luckier than some other people? If we had to guess, we would say that it has to do with what's going on in our lives at any given moment. If we are stressed, depressed or just plain busy, we are not going to be as happy as if I were more relaxed and content, and perhaps less lucky. But then there are those cases, where it is just plain amazing how lucky some people are, with coincidences that seem wild and totally impractical. Case in point - the story of Bill Morgan.

Way back in 1998, Bill, who was a truck driver, was involved in a horrible accident. He was crushed but survived; however, in the hospital, he was given a drug to help with the pain, which caused side effects and stopped his heart for over 14 minutes. He was clinically dead; however, miraculously, he came back, but was in a coma for over a week.

He recovered, and 12 days later walked out of the hospital with no ill effects. He then proposed to his girlfriend who said yes. Further testing his lucky, he bought a lotto ticket and won a new car worth $17,000!

The local news picked up the story and asked to do a story about him. When filming him, they asked him to reenact buying a ticket. So he bought another scratch off ticket, and lo and behold on live TV, he scratched off and won $250,000!

From being clinically dead to, coming back to life, getting a wife, new car, and $250,000 in his pocket… We would say that is pretty darn lucky and defies logic.
