When I was at university, a local bar kept Guinness on tap and had pints for only $2 every Tuesday. They also gave you a free pizza if you ordered two pints. I used to stop in there for lunch between classes for cheap lunch and a buzz. I quickly developed a taste for Guinness and it lept up to the top of my favorites list.
A 350ml can is ¥500 (comes in a ¥2000 4 pack). With the yen falling like crazy, that doesn't convert badly to dollars and euros, but just a year ago that was around $20. To give you an idea, a regular lager is about ¥100. At the bar a pint of Guinness runs ¥1000 by itself, so I rarely drink it in the bar.
