So here we are, Adelaide Oval on September the 22nd 2017 vs probably our biggest rival other than Port Adelaide. We last won the grand final in 1998 and have failed to win a preliminary final ever since.

I had this poor kid sitting in front of me, not sure why he's sitting in the Crows cheersquad (active support area) with a Geelong Patrick Dangerfield #35 guernsey on lol but fair play to him.
Nothing gets you fired up quite like the players lining up for the Australian Anthem and this was no exception. We came out roaring and took an early lead. You could see the Cats were rattled with their stars missing easy shots at goal and we just looked unplayable. Our lead continued to build to 5 goals at quarter time.
A big moment in the game was when former team mate Patrick Dangerfield was absolutely floored by Rory Sloane. The Cats were coming back and we needed to wrestle back the momentum.

This resulted in a scoring opportunity for the Cats turning into a Crows goal at the other end. You can view the hit in all it's glory here:
We continued to dominate and even though the Cats were hitting the scoreboard our lead was realistically never challenged.
The Mexican wave was going around the ground during the last quarter when the result was no longer in doubt.
Here's one of our many goals filmed by yours truly:
And the final siren:
Apologies for the language and ogre like yelling, this was a very emotional night and plenty of drinks we're had!
The city was alive, we had made the grand final. We were destined for greatness and on paper either team we drew in the grand final we should've beaten with ease.
Unfortunately it was not to be. The Richmond Tigers fairy tale story of their own was realised and they won their first grand final since 1980 and fair play to them, they played amazing on the day and took the opportunity where the Crows were disappointing and to put it bluntly, choked. Sorry I'm not putting a lot of detail in here but this was one of the worst days of my life and it hurt - a lot.
I'll always support the boys and hoping we can continue to rise during adversity and have a great 2018 season.
