James 4:6 God resists the proud but gives more grace to the humble.
Note: Pride is the only sin recorded in scriptures, in which God actually resists the PERSON involved.
Have stayed in the western part of Nigeria ,one of the virtues I noticed & imbibed from the yorubas is humility & respect to parents,elders & institutions. A Yoruba man will always portray for an elder each time he/she sees them.
A man who honours one he can see can relate easily to honouring a God he cannot see with his optical eyes.A man who understands honour will not struggle to worship,lie flat on the ground,kneel,bow ,genuflect,lift up hands,cry and dance before an invisible God. Worshipis what you do when you don't know what to do, when you worship you involve God.
Godthe father leaves his throne to engage in worship.."He inhabits the praises of his people & He is enthroned on the worship of Isreal". There are battles men cannot win against you when you cloth yourself with humility & worship because God takes over such battles.The culture of respect amongst the yorubas is expressed in their praise & worship.
Every action in life is a seed.To every action there is an equal & opposite reaction.Honour is a seed for access.A man whom you honour can give you acess to his success,wisdom,wealth and he can be that Destiny helper. What you despise you can not get.
The present culture of disrespect ,disdain,gossip & total lack of control in our society amongst the young is one for concern,the use of foul language and disparaging of those in authority in social media shows a total decadence in this virtue.

May our generation get to know that long prayer request is not necessarily what is required to get that promotion,to get married,to get that admission or to get that contract or job but just a simple word....HONOUR.
