Good morning hivers and blessed new week to all of us.
Let us start the new week with this animal name in our minds, the Pangolin.

Whenever people see pangolin, the first thing in their minds is I have seen a bushmeat.
Bushmeat, something to kill and eat or sell without knowing what this particular animal is doing for nature.

But lt me ask, do you know what this small animal is doing for nature? If your answer is no, then let me take you there.

  1. Pangolin is our natural pest control.
One single pangolin can eat up to 70 million ants and termites in a year. It's scientifically proven. Those ants and termites that destroy our crops, our houses, our farm? Pangolin is eating them for free. Without collecting salary and you don't have to buy pesticides when you stop killing pangolin for meat.

If we kill all pangolins, who will control those insects?
We will start buying more chemicals.

  1. Pangolin protects our soil.
When pangolin is digging to look for ants,
    it turns the soil.
It makes the soil loose and fertile.
It helps air enter the soil.
Dear farmers, these animals are helping your farm so stop killing them

  2. It is not dangerous.
    Pangolin has no teeth.
    It does not bite.
    It does not attack humans.
When it sees danger, it curls like a ball.
    That is all.
It is the most gentle animal you can see in the bush.

And I ask again, why are we killing it?

We kill pangolin because we want to eat it. Because some people believe its scales can cure sickness.
But science has proved that pangolin scale is just keratin, the same thing as our fingernail.
It cures nothing.

And because we keep killing it, pangolin is now the most trafficked animal in the world.
It is endangered.
If we continue, our children will only see pangolin in pictures just like dinosaurs.

Dear hivers,
If we kill an animal that is protecting our crops and our soil, who is losing?
Ask yourself this question.

Hard truth is that the nature gave us pangolin to help us and not for us to finish.

Let's protect them.
If you see pangolin in the bush, let it go.
If you see someone selling it, educate them.
If you have a farm, know that pangolin near your farm is a blessing, not meat.

Have you ever seen a live pangolin before? What do you think we can do to protect it?
