Yes I'm back again with another serious discussion. Let's learn because this is a true story.

There was a man in my village who was very good at farming. And I repeat that he was very good. His pepper farm was the best in the whole area and everybody praised him.

One year, he said something that shocked everybody.

I don't need to pray, I don't need to prepare, I don't need to listen to anybody. I am the master of pepper farming. Even if I plant with my eyes closed, it will grow.

So he planted late.
He didn't clear his land well.
He didn't check the soil.
He didn't check whether the seeds are good.
He was too confident.

And that year, the rain did not come when he expected.
Pests attacked his farm.
His pepper died.

The same man who was praised last year became the laughing stock this year.

That is what overconfidence does.

And I asked, what Is Overconfidence?

Overconfidence is when you think you are bigger than the problem.

It is when a student says, i don't need to read, I already know everything, and then fails the exam.

It is when a driver says, I am a professional driver, I can drive at 180km/h even when drunk, and then crashes.

It is when a businessman says, My business can never fall, and then he stops working hard and his business falls.

Confidence says, I can do it if I prepare.
While,
Overconfidence says, I can do it even if I don't prepare.

That small difference can destroy a life.

Three Dangerous Consequences Of Overconfidence;

  1. It Makes You Stop Learning.
The overconfident man stops listening because he thinks he knows it all. But life is a teacher, the moment you say I know it all, life will teach you a new lesson in a painful way.

  2. It Makes You Take Stupid Risks. Overconfidence makes a man put all his money in one business.
It makes a footballer underrate his opponent.
It makes a man cheat on his wife because he thinks he will never be caught, but the day of exposure always comes.

  3. It Makes You Lose What You Built.
Just like my farmer friend, overconfidence made him lose a whole season's harvest. Many great men did not fall because of their enemies. They fell because they became too confident in themselves.

My Advice For You.

Be confident, but stay humble.

Be bold, but stay prepared.

Be skilled, but stay teachable.

Even the best chess player still looks at the clock. Even the best farmer still checks the weather. Even the strongest man still respects the road.

Never say it cannot happen to me. That is the first sentence of every man who later says had I known.

So I ask you today, have you ever suffered because you were too confident?
What did you learn from it?

Your story may save someone from falling.
