First Impression Begins With Small Talk: The Power Of First Impression.
Greetings dear hivers. Happy weekend from here and how are you planning for the weekend?
I have an interesting gist for you all so get your seat and let's gist.
People say don't judge by first impression.
But truth is, we all do.
And that first impression doesn't start with grammar or big speeches.
It starts with small talk like "How are you?"
"How was your day?"
"This traffic ehn..."
"Fine boy, how you dey?"
Small talk seems useless, but it's actually a test. In 30 seconds of small talk, people decide if you are friendly, proud, rude, or approachable.
I've seen it severally.
A guy loses a job not because he is not qualified, but because while waiting, he couldn't even greet the CEO.
A girl loses a client because her first reply was dry like "K." "Yes." "Ok." for a response.
Small talk is the bridge and without it, big talk can never happen.
You don't need to be an extrovert always, sometimes just be warm and a bit welcoming.
Smile.
Ask simple questions.
Listen more than you talk.
Remember names.
In this life, people may forget what you said, but they will never forget how your first few minutes made them feel.
Your next opportunity might be hiding inside small talk.
Don't snub it.
First impression matters.
